Jimmy Santiago Baca

Mrs. Stansbury pointed me in the direction on this poem: I am Offering This Poem.
I like the part where Jimmy Santiago Baca says, "keep it like a warm coat, when winter comes to cover you." It really stood out to me because this quote  proves that poems can be loving, sad, or dramatic.  A loving poem is a poem that shows love that is what this is. The poem shows love by covering you with a warm coat. A sad poem is a poem with  sad story's or a sad past. This is not a sad poem because it does not have a sad story or past.  A dramatic story is where a person or thing is telling a poem dramatically. This poem is not a dramatic story.

I disliked the part where he says "a pair of thick socks cannot bite through." I disliked it because it is not true! Even thick socks can bite through the winter cold and wetness. Not everything can protect you in the world. Not even thick socks, because the winter coldness and wetness can bite through just like the world can upset you. This poem reflects onto the world because the world is cold and filled with wetness because the world is tough but you got to get through it. Jimmy Santiago Baca meant to reflect to the world in his poem because the point was to inform you that the world is not all fun and games, it is not easy.
